The Aero L-39 Albatros is a high-performance jet trainer aircraft developed in Czechoslovakia to meet requirements for a "C-39" (C for cvicn˛ - trainer) during the 1960s to replace the L-29 Delffn. It was the first of the second-generation jet trainers, and the very first turbofan-powered trainer produced, and was later updated as the L-59 Super Albatros and as the L-139. The design is still produced in an evolved state as the L-159 Alca, while more than 2,800 L-39s still serve with over 30 air forces around the world. The Albatros is versatile, seeing duty in light attack missions as well as basic and advanced pilot training, and is the most widely-used jet trainer in the world.
This is a Ver 2.1 composite kit, full fiberglass fuselage beautifully crafted and finished in the US NAVY colours, wing is fully built up film covered and one piece, it runs outboard servos for the ailerons and undercarriage mounts are in place but the film has not been cut away, perfect for those wanting to bungee launch and land on grass.
- Cockpit is pre-molded and will take our Wemotec jet pilots, the perfect finish for this scale looking model.
- Rudder can be cut out and fitted as an option and the L39 is capable of knife edge flight!
- Intake ducting is all fibreglass now and fully molded.

The finish on this model is superb, the painted fuselage is one of the best on the market. The Kit comprises complete airframe with all fittings, molded inlet ducting and pre-cut joiners and exhaust ducting. Also supplied is a 70mm 5 blade GRP fan unit of very good quality, once balanced it is a high powered reliable fan. The supplied BLUE TORNADO BL2842 out-runner motor is dynamically balanced and rated to 1000 watts! This powerful motor provides 200+kmh when used with quality battery packs such as our ELITE 4000mah 4s1p 25c.
The L39 needs good servos, we recommend 9 gram size metal gear for elevator and 6 gram size metal gear for ailerons. Our Waypoint 150MG or Bluebird 380MG are perfect for elevator, ailerons need a micro servo the size of HITEC HS65MG's, we have the BLUEBIRD 373MG which are almost identical to HS65MG in all respects, you can find them in the servo section. We will also have SAPAC's own micro servo in stock soon, they are higher spec to the HS65MG and will be listed with the SAPAC accesories.
