Machining & Fabrication work
|
I do milling, machining and fabrication
for my own aircraft & cars, and am happy to machine or fabricate
components if I am able. I try to keep the costs down as much as possible,
but custom machining work does take time!
I can machine small parts out of Brass, Aluminum, Nylon, Acetal, Teflon, and most other plastics. |

The EDF55 & 64 fan housings are
made to fit Mabuchi 370 brushed motors, the hub hole in the centre of the
mounting flange is too small for most brushless motors with hub flanges like
the Hyperion Y22s series, and is not so easy to open out. I am happy to open
this hole out to suit 9mm bearing hubs before shipping the fan unit out, so
please let me know if you require this! (there is no charge) HEATSINKS I regularly
machine off the mounting flanges of heat sinks so they can be used inside
ducted fans with minimal interference to the airflow. Yes you can hack them
off and file down the stubs, but it does look far neater and more
professional to machine them off! I can also mill a ventilation slot for use
with brushed motors, this promotes cross ventilation of the case usually
blocked by use of a heatsink. Two versions of the
300 & 400 size heat sinks are: ●Heatsinks with fins
removed for brushless EDF setups ●Heatsinks with fins
removed and slotted for correct case ventilation to suit brushed 300 &
400 size motors SHAFT ADAPTERS When it
comes to ducted fan shaft adapters most are threaded all the way to the end
and the rotor slides on, this makes it difficult to tighten many adapters
without having to hold the shaft as the shaft will turn with the nut if you
hold the rotor. Holding the shaft you end up with burred threads making it
almost impossible to remove the nut later on! Whenever new
stock of fans arrives at Extreme RC we take all the adapters into our machine
shop and turn the shafts down so that you can easily grip the adapter without
damaging the thread. Some people
drill a hole through the adapter shaft and insert a hex key to hold the shaft
still, this method stil burrs the threads making it
difficult to remove the nut. Our method ensures no issue with fitting and
removal of any of our Wemotec or ERC fans. |
